A new chapter,
in an old building.
We thought about it the way a hotelier would. We built it the way a family would.
Senior living, in Sarawak, deserved a better answer.
For most adult children in Kuching, the choice for an aging parent has been a short list. A nursing home that reads as institutional. A welfare-toned facility framed as charity. Or moving the parent to KL, far from the family that wanted to stay close. Care Collective was built to make a fourth option: premium, hotel-inspired, fully clinical when it needs to be, and rooted in the city the family already lives in.
The premise.
The luxury hotel taught us a lot about how to make people feel seen, comfortable, and unhurried. The hospital taught us a lot about how to keep people safe. Most senior care chooses one and ignores the other.
Care Collective is the union. Hotel-inspired residences with hospital-grade clinical infrastructure underneath. Concierge service in the morning, registered nursing through the night.
The promise.
Care beyond age. Connections beyond time. The first half is about scale: the only place in East Malaysia that stacks the full senior care continuum in one building, run by a B Corp operator with nine years of practice across Malaysia.
The second half is about the day a family will actually live here: a daughter visiting her mother in the courtyard before work, a grandchild stopping by for tea after school, a partner who lives two floors down, walking up.
A redeveloped Four Points Sheraton.
Connected to voco Kuching.
The bones of a 4-star hotel. The discretion of a residence. A physical connection to a 321-room IHG hotel next door, for visiting family and live-in carers.
From hotel, to home.
The site at Wisma Elica was, until recently, a Four Points by Sheraton. Elica Equity acquired and redeveloped the building into a mixed-use site, with a new 321-room voco Kuching (operated by IHG) on one half, and Care Collective on the other.
The building was designed for hospitality. We kept the corridors wide, the windows tall, the kitchens commercial. Then we added what hospitality didn't: continuous handrails, locked-floor protocols on Memory Care, twenty-four-hour nursing on every Assisted Living floor, and call cords by every bed.
Connected to voco Kuching.
A physical connection between Care Collective and voco Kuching means visiting family can stay overnight in a hotel that's a short walk from the resident's floor. Adult children flying in from KL or overseas have a familiar IHG room a corridor away.
For the resident: it preserves the village's privacy. The ground floor is theirs. Hotel guests do not pass through the Clubhouse.
East Malaysia's largest
integrated wellness centre.
Recovery. Rejuvenation. Revitalisation.
Care Concierge runs the village.
