FAQ

The questions families
actually ask.

Choosing care for someone you love is one of the hardest things you'll do. We've gathered the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, send us a note — we'd rather answer it properly than have you guess.

01

Getting started.

How do I get my parent to actually visit?

Start with a meal. Most families book a Day Pass (RM180) or a two-person Golden Agers Staycation (RM800 for 3D2N). It takes the pressure off — no one has signed anything, no one has to commit. We find the conversation gets a lot easier after a real lunch in the dining room. If your parent is hesitant, we sometimes suggest framing it as 'a tour for me, you're just keeping me company.'

How quickly can my parent move in?

Once you've toured and decided, we can typically welcome new residents within 2 to 4 weeks. The lead time is the care assessment, the room selection, and any clinical handover from your current setup. We'll guide you through it at your pace, not ours.

Can I book a private tour without a Day Pass?

Yes. Private tours run Tuesday to Saturday between 9am and 6pm. Free, no obligation, usually 60–90 minutes. Best to book — but we'll always make space for walk-ins where we can.

02

Cost & pricing.

What does it actually cost — like, everything in?

Independent Living from RM7,000/month. Assisted Living from RM8,500/month. Memory Care from RM10,500/month. Day Care from RM2,500/month. That covers the suite, three meals a day, daily housekeeping, the activities programme, and full access to the wellness centre. We'll walk through any add-ons (TCM, salon, additional clinical care) after a tour.

Are there short-stay options if we're not ready to commit?

Yes. Day Pass from RM180. Three-day Staycation from RM800 (two persons). Wellness Recovery from RM1,200 (3D2N, post-hospital). And a 2-Day Stay (priced at the concierge call), if you want a longer feel for what life here is like.

Is there a deposit or admission fee?

For monthly residency, we ask for one month's rent as a security deposit at admission, refundable on departure. There's no separate admission fee. Trial stays are paid up front — no deposit required.

03

Care & clinical.

What happens if my parent's needs change?

You move to a different path of care, not a different building. Independent Living → Assisted Living → Memory Care all live within Care Collective, with the same team and the same neighbours. We've designed for this on purpose — and it's the single most important thing senior residences usually get wrong.

How is medical care handled?

A 24/7 nursing team on site, with on-call doctors and partnerships with Sarawak General Hospital and the major private hospitals in Kuching for specialist care. Emergency response systems in every room — average response under two minutes. Medication management, regular health monitoring, and family-included care planning.

Can my domestic helper (kakak) stay with my parent?

For short-term care or transitional periods, yes — the kakak is welcome in the suite. For long-term residency, our team takes over the daily care and the kakak can visit any time. Many families find this a relief: the kakak gets her own life back, the parent gets professional care, and the family relationship doesn't carry the weight anymore.

Does Care Collective work with my insurance?

We're building partnerships with the major Malaysian insurers, and we already work with most international expatriate health plans. Best to share your policy details with our admissions team — we'll tell you what's covered and what isn't before you commit.

04

Daily life.

Can my family visit anytime?

Yes. Care Collective is built for family. Visit any time of day. Join for meals — just let the dining team know in advance. Bring grandchildren. Stay overnight in guest suites when you need to. This is the family's second living room, not a place you visit on Sundays.

Is the kitchen halal? What about diabetic or renal diets?

Halal kitchen, certified. Diabetic, renal, low-sodium, soft-diet, puree, gluten-free, lactose-free — handled in-house at no extra cost. Tell us at admission and we'll build the menu around it. Updated whenever something changes.

What languages does the care team speak?

English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and the major Chinese dialects (Hokkien, Cantonese, Hakka). For Iban, Bidayuh, and other Sarawak languages, we'll match a caregiver to your parent at admission where we can.

Are pets allowed?

A small companion pet may be permitted in private studios and suites on a case-by-case basis. We assess for the resident's wellbeing and the wider community. Speak to our admissions team — we usually find a way.
